Negative Marketing Has Come For You, Bri Bri
Big-Head Brian cover art receipts — accolades, modesty stack, and the old skool playbook that took down Mambo and birthed Joomla.

Big-Headed Brian Teeman — cover art receipts
F@k3B00b avatar tier · makes this too easy · Huh?
Can't scrape Facebook (they want your login, not the truth). Chief copy-pasted the candy instead. Public profile. Public cover image. Editorial commentary. BAAAAAAAAAHHAHA.

<a11y> on the laptop. Receipt saved locally. Two eternal trophies — still on the Facebook banner in 2026. Full receipts below. Which year, Bri Bri?!
Head in the art. Head in the award line. Head in the 2025 revival. Wikipedia link deleted Sep '05. Guestbook entry deleted Aug '25. No marketing fluff — just human words. Sure, pardner.
Accolades (with receipts)
Brian's own About page lists two honours he still wears like fresh laurels. Facebook shortens the second one and drops the year entirely.
1. UK Individual Contribution to Open Source Software — 2005
- Receipt: brian.teeman.net/about — "In 2005 I was honoured with an award for UK Individual Contribution to Open Source Software"
- Fine print: "the first and only winner not to be a programmer"
- Editorial: Open-source contribution award for a Joomla co-founder who evangelizes the stack. Valid history; still pinned twenty years later like it happened yesterday.
2. Open Source in Business Blog of the Year — Computer Weekly — 2009
- Receipt: brian.teeman.net/about — "in 2009 the readers of ComputerWeekly chose my blog as the Open source in business blog of the year"
- Facebook tagline: "OPEN SOURCE BLOGGER OF THE YEAR — COMPUTER WEEKLY" — no year, no in business category, crown forever.
- Editorial: 2009 reader poll. Blog ≈ Joomla posts, Joomla a11y posts, Joomla leadership posts, Spread the Joomla Love. Evangelist for his own product wins blog of the year from the community that votes for its elders. BAAAAAAAAAHHAHA.
The modesty stack (gold nugget)
"I'm a shy and modest man who doesn't like to blow his own trumpet or boast about achievements."
— brian.teeman.net/about — same page as both trophies above
Editorial: Same About page. Same Facebook banner screaming OPEN SOURCE BLOGGER OF THE YEAR. Big head in the cover art. Spread the Joomla Love in 2025. The trumpet isn't blown — it's surgical-grade implanted. Shy. Modest. Sure, pardner.
Facebook cover art — still on the banner in 2026

The Rise of Negative Marketing — 28 May 2026
Receipt: The Rise of Negative Marketing — published 28 May 2026 on brian.teeman.net. Same day as Chief's guestbook rapid-fire. Mid–Lone Mamber expose rebuild. Timing: immaculate.
Chief's point — old skool, receipts attached: Negative marketing isn't a 2026 Twitter sin. It's a successful old-school technique. Aug–Sep 2005 the Lone Mamber used fork-era investigative journalism, forum heat, Go Joomla!, CafePress badges, and hard contrast against Miro's captured Foundation to take down Mambo and promote Joomla! It worked. Joomla shipped. The crowd moved. Mambo faded. And the campaign was so successful they erased the marketer from history — Wikipedia link deleted, Go Joomla! scrubbed, MamboLove #1 stripped, guestbook deleted, founders-only narrative locked. Bri Bri now calls the playbook playground bullying. Cool. We wrote the playbook. He lives in the house we helped build.
Bri Bri says:
"Some companies spend more time attacking competitors than explaining why their own products are worth using."
"Apparently the best thing they can say about themselves is that they are not the other company."
"That is not confidence. That is insecurity with a marketing department."
"Don't be a dick."
- Erasure = proof it worked: delete the Wikipedia link, scrub Go Joomla!, strip MamboLove #1, delete guestbook entries — you don't erase a failed campaign. You erase the one that won.
- Brian runs Spread the Joomla Love in 2025 while deleting Lone Mamber guestbook entries — same curation playbook, better receipts this time.
- This page? Documentary archive. He's the cover art. We're the hoofprints. THE SHEER NEGATIVE MARKETING POWAH OF THE LONE MAMBER HAS COME FOR YOU, BRI BRI. BAAAAAHAHAHA.
Negative Marketing Hall of Fame — GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bri Bri thinks comparison ads are insecurity with a marketing department. Famous brands disagree. Stadium-scale. Super Bowl budgets. Billboards at war. One Blogspot saloon in Aug '05. Same playbook.
Editorial: Negative marketing isn't a Bri Bri discovery. It's an old skool technique that works — Apple ran it, Pepsi ran it, Samsung ran it, Chief ran it from a Blogspot saloon. Playground bullying? Tell that to the shareholders. BAAAAAAAHHAHA. 8)
Inspired Digital — Wayback, Dec 2005
inspired-digital.net — fork-era agency site. Many assets are missing or broken in recent Wayback renders; IA strips images/CSS to save space. Screenshot locally while captures still load.
Same Brian Teeman who runs Spread the Joomla Love in 2025. MamboLove cosplay. Lone Mamber not invited. Again.
Image saved locally for the expose — chat churn and Wayback diet can't eat it twice.
